How are books shipped & what is the cost?
Some books are available in both a print (traditional hard copy of the book that is mailed to you) or digital (PDF version that you download to your computer & view on screen or print at home). If you select a digital version, we will NOT ship anything to you. See below for details on PDF downloads.

If you select a print book, those are shipped for a flat rate of $5.00 (each additional book is $1.00 extra) and are shipped via media mail whenever possible. Please allow 3-8 days for delivery. If you would like alternate ore expedited shipping methods (such as UPS or Priority Mail) or would like to inquire about international shipping rates, please contact our office at 913.341.5559 or via email at [email protected] for additional information. Please note we are available Monday – Friday; 8am – 4pm CST. We try to respond to email within 48 hours. If you do not hear from us within that time frame, please contact us again as your email may have been lost.

What are PDF downloads?
PDF downloads are files that are purchased online & printed on your home computer by you. These files (books, projects or patterns) are NOT shipped to you by mail so no shipping charges apply – that’s a savings of up to $25 especially for our international customers! PDF’s are instantly accessible once payment has been processed on your order.

What are Jpeg/jpg/png downloads?
Jpeg/jpg/png downloads are images that are purchased online & printed on your home computer by you. These images are NOT shipped to you by mail so no shipping charges apply. These images are high resolution 300 dpi. Additional details on each image can be found on the image description page of that particular image including original size & tips on enlarging.

Do I need special software to access my PDF downloads?
The only software you need to access PDF is the very common Adobe Acrobat Reader which is a free program. Click here to download Adobe Reader for free. Other media sources can be used to view PDFs such as iPads & iPhones (you can open in iBooks) or other tablet PDF readers available by app store for Androids. PDFs can also be emailed to your Kindle for viewing but file sizes of larger PDFs (many eBooks) may make emailing prohibitive. We cannot guarantee our all of our PDFs will be of a size that will allow them to be emailed.

Do I need special software to access my Jpeg downloads?
Most computer OS systems have some sort of basic image viewing program. If you wish to edit the image you may need to have image editing software such as Photoshop. There are also free online image editors available such as

How will I know which version of a product I am purchasing?
If a product is offered in both a printable PDF format & a hard copy shippable format – this will be listing in the description and shown as an option before adding item to your cart. Currently, only select books are offered in a an optional Print or Digital format.

How do I get free products & images?
If a product is offered at no charge (such as free images, free ePatterns, free PDF tutorials, etc), they still must be added to your web cart & an account made – we require your email, name & address. However, no credit card or other payment information is required.

What methods of payment do you accept?
Currently we only accept PayPal payments. However, you do not need a PayPal account to checkout with us. You can elect to checkout using PayPal as a guest, this will allow you to use your Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card without having to create an account with PayPal.

If I purchase a download, how do I get it to my computer to print?
Once you add a downloadable product to your cart, you will begin the checkout process.

Once your purchase is complete, your download will be instantly accessible. You will see the download name as a clickable link on the order completed page. You will also receive an email that will also contain a link to your downloadable product in it as well. We recommend downloading your product & saving it to your computer for easy access in the future.

How do I save the file to my computer?
Every computer is different. Some computers will ask where you want to save the file when you click your download link. Many computer automatically download all files to a specific folder designated by the computer owner or as a default when the computer was originally set up. Many times this folder is called “Downloads”. Please refer to your own computer settings to locate your files.

How do I print my file once I open it on my computer?

Again, this depends on your personal computer and which browser you are using. Most browsers will open your file as a new tab (Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox for example). From this window, you can save or print using the icons at the top of the page or that appear when you hover your mouse over the window.
Be sure to print your patterns at 100% (not “shrink-go-fit” or “fit to media”. You can check if your pattern pieces have printed the correct size by measuring the “blue one inch square” in your pattern. This square should measure one inch. If it does not, your printer settings may need to be modified. When you click print, check the options that pop-up to make sure you are printing page at 100%.

How can I purchase Vintage Notions Monthly?
Our magazine can be purchased in several ways. Single issues may be purchased for the cover price in print or digital format on our website. You may order the current issue on our website or visit to purchase past issues.

Vintage Notions Monthly (print or digital versions) may also be purchased by subscribing to our auto-shipping program on a month-to-month basis or a pre-paid subscription option (6 or 12 months). Discounts of the cover price are available and based on which option you select. All magazine subscriptions are shipped on a monthly basis for as long as your subscription is current.

How much is shipping?
Domestic shipping within the US is FREE.

Shipping to Canada is $3.50 per issue ($21.00 for 6-months & $42.00 for 12-month).

International shipping to all other countries is $8.00 per issue ($48.00 for 6-months & $96.00 for 12-months).

Shipping is charged at the time of purchase. If you purchase a 6-month pre-paid subscription, you will be charged the full shipping per issue cost up front. The same applies for the 12-month pre-paid subscription.

How often is my credit card charged?
Customers are charged at the date of purchase & then each month (or 6-months) thereafter on the same date.

Can I change my subscription?
Yes, simply log into your online account to change, suspend, terminate or make credit card changes to your subscription. If you have any questions about making changes to your subscription, you may contact us at [email protected]

When will I receive my issues?
Each issue is shipped twice a month. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. Please refer to the information on the subscription page as to which issue is currently shipping or contact us at [email protected]
