Quilter on Fire Podcast

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the blog! As you know, while I was at QuiltCon this year, I had the chance to chat with Brandy Maslowski, otherwise known as Quilter on Fire, on one of her new podcast episodes. I was introduced to Brandy a few years ago by Oliso’s Michele Muska and we became fast quilting friends! Along with being a wonderful person, I was so inspired to learn about her career path from firefighter to renowned art quilter and teacher. Click the buttons to listen or search Quilter on Fire on your favorite podcast app and look for episode #155.

Brandy was born and raised in Canada and now resides in the Canadian province of British Columbia where she lives a life of quilting and outdoor adventure! Three years ago she started her Quilter on Fire podcast to discover and share stories from the quilting community… and she’s never looked back! Her podcast brings you the latest tips, tricks and quilting topics – and she interviews guests from all of her global travels.

Some of my favorite people have been on her podcast and I was so honored to be included on her guest list! My hometown of Kansas City is just bursting with creativity and some of her guests, like Tula Pink, Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co and Jacquie Gering of Rethink Quilting, are also local KC gals, who are always happy to sing the praises of our city. I hope you get a chance to listen to ALL of these amazing conversations.

“More Joy, Less Overwhelm”

On my podcast episode, Brandy and I deep dive into the history of my 30 years in the industry. You’ll learn all about how I got started (thanks, Mom!), my first company, Indygo Junction, and my newest product line with Colonial Patterns called Treasured Threadz. I’ve always been inspired by all things vintage and am passionate about helping others cultivate more joy through needle and thread – which aligns perfectly with Brandy’s own motto of “more joy and less overwhelm”!

As you can tell, the Oliso booth is quite the creative hangout at major quilt shows like QuiltCon and the Houston Quilt Festival. Oliso has always been so supportive of the quilting community and they love to share resources and information with everyone who stops by. It’s the perfect place to make new friends and get inspired.

Speaking of inspiration, one more thing about Brandy – did you know that she is a certified Quilt Judge? Yes! When at quilting shows, you’ll find Brandy judging incredible quilt art from across the country and beyond. She loves the boundless possibilities of fabric and stitch and always wants quilters to embrace their artistic side and find their inner creative zone. If you love creating, you’ll love what you create!

So, grab your stitching and find the episode with Brandy and I on her website or wherever you get your favorite podcasts.
