My new book, Love You to Pieces: A Gift of Friendship, celebrates the handmade stories stitched into dolls, quilts, and keepsakes passed down with love. Each page pairs a unique cloth character with a vintage quilt which captures the heart and heritage of handcrafting.
One of the greatest joys in creating this book was discovering how naturally certain characters found their quilt counterparts. Oscar is one of those pairings that felt meant to be.
Meet Oscar!
As part of my book launch, we partnered with my friends at Oliso—maker of the fabulous, colorful M3Pro™ mini irons—for several fun giveaways! Be sure to join my newsletter to stay up to date on all the latest Love You to Pieces news and upcoming giveaways.
Oscar may be simple, but sometimes the humblest toys carry the deepest stories.
His aqua-striped knit fabric echoes the colors of a quilt sewn by my great-grandmother. The quilt features a double wedding ring pattern… rich with symbolism about love, connection, and bonds that last across generations. When I placed Oscar beside it, the pairing felt so right.
Though his face is softly stitched and unassuming, there’s something incredibly tender about his handmade charm. Oscar is a reminder that handmade doesn’t have to be fancy to be meaningful. Often, it’s the simplest pieces that hold the most memory.
A Peek Inside Love You to Pieces
Together, Oscar and the quilt carry a quiet message:
“Pieced, one to the other, with love.”
That phrase captures the heart of the book whether we’re talking about dolls, quilts, or the friendships that weave our lives together over time.
