My new book, Love You to Pieces: A Gift of Friendship, has been years in the making—a patchwork of heartfelt friendships, vintage dolls, and the joy of creating handmade gifts. Inside, you’ll find dozens of cloth characters paired with vintage quilts that speak to the nostalgia and comfort of handcrafting with love.
One of my favorite parts of creating this book was watching each character quietly reveal who they were meant to be. Alice Apple was one of those dolls whose personality felt clear from the very beginning. She is a classic cloth doll with a timeless twist.
Meet Alice Apple!
She wears a cheerful apple-print dress and features delicate hand-stitched details, button-jointed limbs, and a sweet, simple design that invites nostalgia. Like so many of the dolls in Love You to Pieces, she is entirely one-of-a-kind—made slowly, thoughtfully, and with care.
One of the most captivating things about handmade dolls is how much expression can live in just a few stitches. Alice’s eyes, in particular, always draw me in. They remind me how much personality can be conveyed through a softly embroidered face. Often, it’s the smallest details that tell the biggest story.
Together, Alice and her accompanying quilt reflect what this book holds at its heart: comfort, creativity, and the quiet joy of making something meaningful by hand.
Thank you for spending time getting to know Alice Apple. I can’t wait to introduce you to more of the cloth doll crew from Love You to Pieces. Join my newsletter so you never miss a character, sneak peek, or news about my new book!
XO,
Amy
