Hi everyone, so glad you are here! October has arrived, bringing with it one of my favorite crafting seasons – HALLOWEEN! I love Fall and everything that it brings with it, and (to no one’s surprise) I have a ton of vintage Halloween ephemera, recipes and other fun crafty content to share with you. It’s all a bit scattered throughout my blog, so I thought a little Halloween Round-Up would be fun for everyone – including myself!
Halloween treats are even sweeter with (free!) vintage artwork!
First up, have you ever made treat bags for your friends and neighbors? I love this vintage “Boo’ing” tradition – it’s sort of like May Day Baskets, but with candy! I have not one, but TWO free images for you that are perfect for making tags and other fun little Halloween projects with. You could even enlarge them and frame them for some fantastic wall art.
The October Chapter of my Vintage Notions Book
Halloween is such a fun time of year and there is nothing better than embracing vintage techniques and making your own Halloween costumes. Who wants to just buy the premade from the store? Not me! October is the 10th Chapter of my Vintage Notions book, called A Thimbleful of Character. You’ll find all sorts of festive inspiration for Halloween costumes and party ideas, including many patterns and recipes to inspire you. I share my vintage bias tape collection and The Magic Pattern this month is the practical nightgown with a bias flower.
I have a great overview Vintage Made Modern video of this Chapter – I hope you take a moment to enjoy it!

A fun “pumpkin lady” and a vintage image trimmed with one of my favorite vintage notion – ric rac!
Along with crafts, what could be better than some fall treats? I have shared a few recipes over the years – and they are all still big winners for my family! I love having some traditions, like roasting pumpkin seeds, that we do every year.
If you are feeling overloaded with candy this time of year, don’t worry – two of my favorite recipes are not-so-sweet treats, perfect for when you need to come down from your sugar high. I hope you give some a try and find a new favorite for your family as well. Tis the season for cozy cooking!
Thanks for sharing some Halloween fun with me! I hope you find a bunch of vintage modern ideas to make this season even more festive for you and your family!
