Sustainable Style Video Series
Part 2 – THE BIG REVEAL!
Hi Everyone! Welcome to Part 2 – our BIG REVEAL! In this video, Karen Sullivan of Sully’s Upcycled, and I are back to show you Karen’s finished Anytime Toppers along with some tips and tricks for sewing with different types of upcycled textiles. I hope you have found that upcycling isn’t just environmentally friendly, it’s also incredibly fun! Sustainable fashion isn’t just about purchasing eco-friendly brands—it’s also about embracing the practice of making something new from something old.
In case you don’t remember from Part 1 – here are the materials that Karen used to make her upcycled AnyTime Toppers:
If you watched the first video, you’ll remember that we talked about how to pick the best upcycling fabrics for the Anytime Topper, including how to combine different materials. You also saw how simple it can be to work with unique textiles like embroidered fabrics, vintage shirts, and even scarves! My Topper pattern is extremely accommodating and easy to adjust, so you can use fabrics you love, even if they’re not traditionally intended for garment making – just check out those vintage bedsheets below!
Watch the first video here to see the fabrics “before” and get inspired to make your own! If you’re ready to get started, you can purchase the Anytime Topper pattern here. Whether you’re new to upcycling or an experienced sewer, this pattern is a great place to begin your creative journey.
