Recently I had the honor of chatting with Pat Sloan on the American Patchwork and Quilting Podcast on Creative Talk Network. You can listen to Episode 323 here. We had a good time chatting about how I came up with our Fabriflair™ kits, and our new line of Indygo Essentials Patterns, and about how I […]
There are many things I love about living in Kansas City. It has great food, an amazing arts community, fabulous sports teams (Go Royals!) and now it is a vintage-lover’s heaven. At least on the first weekend of every month anyway. First Fridays have long been a big event in KC. That is the night […]
Last week an accidental drop of my laptop led to an emergency trip to the Apple store on The Plaza. Established in 1922 by J. C. Nichols and designed architecturally after Seville, Spain, the Plaza was designed as a shopping experience. It was the first shopping center built to accommodate shoppers arriving by automobile. I look forward every year to the time I spend in Michigan with my family. Summers are beautiful and relaxing. My view of the world is usually in a kayak or on a paddle board. Nature is one of my biggest inspirations and I love recording my time spent outside with my camera. I want […]
I am obsessed with patterns in nature…particularly during my summer sabbatical in Northern Michigan when I am able to observe and photograph constantly… Unlike Kansas summers, Michigan summers allow for living outside most days… I see pattern everywhere- in water, loons, on a petoskey stone, and I am compelled to record it. A few weeks ago Bob and I visited Northern Michigan and it was “peak week” for color. I could barely put my camera down. Looking at the nature’s colorful patterns is a favorite subject for my photography. I was lucky to catch for beautiful rainbows as well! I LOVE Fall! This week I’m heading south […]
I ran across this patch of gorgeous red gladiolas and couldn’t help but photograph it. It is such a bright contrast to the evergreens behind it. While I was shooting I had a visitor – a black and white spotted dragonfly. How lucky was I to see him??
I collect windows – on my phone at least! I love the infinite window designs in architecture. New York especially has some gorgeous windows and I photographed them throughout my visit. Are there any architectural details that you especially love?
I had a blast this year at Quilt Festival. It was so inspiring to see the creative designs – you could feel the energy and dedication sewn into each quilt. I’ve created a gallery of my favorite quilts, enjoy! Have you ever had a chance to go to Quilt Festival? Is it on your bucket […]
Summertime is cherry time in Michigan. Everywhere I looked during my visit I saw gorgeous red fruit. I had to take photograph them, they are visually stunning – not to mention delicious! Do you every go fruit picking? For me it is cherries in the summer, apples in the fall!
