Colette patterns was founded in 2009 by Sarai Mitnick. She had been working in the technology world but gave that up to design patterns that are feminine and classic. Colette patterns have been a breath of fresh air in the garment sewing industry, and in 2011 she published The Colette Sewing Handbook which has 5 new patterns and many tips on how to create and fit garments.
The Coletterie, which is the official Colette blog also offers a lot of tips for fashion sewing, as well as other fashion inspiration. I love the new series Behind The Seams, where they look at vintage garments and their unusual construction methods. And, of course, I love their Vintage Style Inspiration series, where they recently highlighted Colleen Moore.
Have you used Colette patterns? What do you like about them? Or, if you haven’t used them, which pattern would you most like to make? Comment below for a chance to win. The contest ends at midnight on August 18th, we will announce a winner on Monday, August 19th. Good luck!
